Veggie Delight Sampler ($7):

The small dinner portion of ox-tail stew ($9):

A reader reminded us that we hadn't been to Da Blue Lagoon in a very long time. The last time that we went it was for a lunch buffet so this time we decided to go for dinner. Dinner service starts at 5 o'clock. We perused the menu and decided to go with the Vegetarian Delight platter and the Ox-Tail soup.

The Vegetarian platter consisted of red beans and rice, sweet fried plantains, and buttered vegetables (which was mostly cabbage). The red beans and rice were fine but nothing special. The buttered vegetables were delicious and we always love plantains.

The Ox-Tail sat on a pile of butter beans smothered in an incredibly tasty broth, buttered vegetables, and red beans and rice came on the side. The meat on the Ox-Tail was seasoned well and was tender. However, if you come very hungry, the ox-tail may not be for you. There just isn't a lot of meat on the ox-tail and you have to do a little work to get it off the tail (and we did get the "small" dinner portion). The butter beans were tender, but not mushy, and the broth drifted over to the rice and gave it a nice flavor. Such a nice flavor, in fact, that Mrs. WYA! couldn't keep her fork out of it even though it was Mr. WYA!'s entree.

Da Blue Lagoon usually has a website at http://www.dabluelagoon.com/ but it appears to be under construction right now. With a bill that included an iced tea and came in under $20, we thought it was quite a bargain.
