Frugal fashion plates will want to check out the Alexander McQueen designs at Target.com and select Target stores (it looks like the collection is only at the Target at 11750 Commercial Drive in Fishers locally) before they're gone.

Bargain yoga clothes at Old Navy

You don't have to be a yogi to appreciate the comfort of a good pair of yoga pants. Mrs. WYA is picky about her yoga pants and requires them to have a fold-over waist. Those can be hard to find so she was excited to see an ad for Old Navy that showed fold-over yoga pants for only $15! We went to the Old Navy in the Borders shopping center by the Fashion Mall and did find a couple of racks of yoga pants. Mrs. WYA! was so happy with the fit and the style that she grabbed a couple pair of the solid black ones (along with a cool Buddha long sleeved tee for $14.50) which is a big shopping trip for her since she hates to part with her hard earned cash. We were happy with the bargain but even happier when the salesperson asked if we'd like to use the coupon, which we didn't even see on the counter, that was good for 10% off of all yoga clothes. Wow- namaste Old Navy!

We think Marilyn Monroe would be amazed that, 46 years after her death, she is inspiring a fashion collection.

We were excited when we read that super stylist Patricia Field (Sex and the City) had a clothing line coming out through HSN but now we're not so sure...

Antique Mall Jewelry

Keep in mind, as the fashion magazines are telling you that big jewelry is in this season, that you kind find some great pieces at antique malls. This picture was taken at the Exit 76 Antique Mall and the pieces were around $7-$10. The magazines also tell you to "be green" which buying used jewelry also accomplishes.

WYA! Fashion Week- Charlotte Russe

Our last stop on our fall fashion blitz was Charlotte Russe at Castleton Mall.

The first look is a pair of gray pants, for $29.99, that perfectly matched the vest sewn in vest on this sharp top. This is a gorgeous look but we strongly recommend a shot of color when this is worn. Mrs. WYA! has never been one to wear red lipstick but, this season, even she bought a tube of Covergirl TruShine in Fire Shine. They say that the TruShine lipsticks complement 97% of skin tones and they made a believer out of us.

Our second look is a simple $16.99 cream colored sweater with some casual cargo pants that you can wear full length or roll them up and tie them to wear them cropped. They are only $19.99. The hat provided the perfect accent for $10.99 along with a little shine from the necklace for $6.99.

WYA! Fashion Week- JC Penney

We don't go to JCPenney much and, if you don't either, you should know that they have a huge selection of clothes. There were some big sales when we were there too.

The deep purple Nicole Miller sweater was a little pricey but it caught our eye because purple is an "it" color this season. It was on sale for $85.99. We matched that with some crisp gray pants that were only $19.99 and a cream blouse marked $22.

We loved the hooded red sweater. It was marked $42 and, at the store, they had an olive color and this red one. However, on their website they have a blue one and a charcoal one and they are on sale for $29.99. We thought that this would go nicely with a long sleeved tee. And here's another pair of great pants, brown this time, for only $19.99.

We thought that the black and cream floral blouse nicely embraced the fall floral trend without being too over the top. It was on sale for $21.99. Some September days can be quite toasty so we matched it with a pair of black Bermuda shorts that were marked $30.

They also had some very lovely shoes but, since their shoe department isn't self serve, it was hard to subtly get pictures. Be sure to swing by their shoe department though.

WYA! Fashion Week- Kohls

We went to the Kohls in Fashion Mall Commons and found these ensembles.

To recreate a look that we spotted on Gwyneth Paltrow in an InStyle supplement, we chose a faux leather jacket on sale the day we were there for $84, a simple belted gray dress for $58, a tasteful metallic purse that was on sale for $36.40 (it comes with its own tiny umbrella and change purse inside and was originally $52) along with the very popular "bootie" shoe that has been all over the fall collections for $79.99.

We used the jacket in our second look (for $84 you want to get your money's worth) where we matched it with a London design shirt (they had other world cities too) and $29.99 Levi jeans.

We loved the Vera Wang bags. They were marked $79- $89 but it looks like they are 30% off right now.

We didn't find a ton of major bargains at Kohls on this trip but, as you probably know, there are always sales going on there.

WYA! Fashion Week- Marshalls

Also in Nora Plaza, we visited the Marshalls store. When you shop at Marshalls, you have to be in a bit of a "treasure hunt" mood. There are a lot of racks to look through and there might not be a wide selection of sizes for every piece. We tried to pick pieces that they had a fairly good selection of. First up is a dark denim jacket for $24.99 with a purple sweater that is also $24.99 (we loved the hardware on the belt), pants for $14.99, and the stunning shoes that were $39.99.

Next, falling right in with the fall floral trend, is the cream and black jacket for $39.99, a cream colored top for $12.99, basic black pants for $19.99, and, to make it really pop, bright red shoes for $39.99.

The stars at Marshalls on our visit definitely seemed to be their bags and shoes.

WYA! Fashion Week- Target

Here are the fashion highlights from our trip to the Nora Target. Once again, Target just hits it out of the park. The season's clothes look great, they are organized and easy to find not to mention easy on the pocketbook. With echoes of what the ladies in Mad Men or Gossip Girl might be wearing is the Isaac Mizrahi plaid dress for $59.99. Shoes this season are good, real good. It's not hard to find a wearable heel height and the pump is back in all of its glorious forms- peep toe, Mary Jane, oxford style, with buttons, buckles, in flannel, patent, and even plaid. This beige pair is $26.99.

Maybe you've noticed the minimalist trend for fall with architectural lines (much like this Jil Sander dress that comes up on her homepage). This Target skirt is a great example of that for $19.99. Embrace the print trend with this easy to wear $24.99 top (but you'll need to wear something underneath it- there are many sheer tops this season meant for layering). The Isaac Mizrahi Black Patent Mary Jane pumps come in at $32.99 and you can absolutely make this ensemble with the $10.48 clutch purse that picks up the color in the blouse.

Lastly, add some elegance to jeans days with this long cardigan (which we saw a variation of at nearly every store that we visited) for only $17.99. We layered it here with a "tissue tee" (lightweight-perfect for layering) for $9.99. The jeans were $22.99, the short boot was $29.99, the belt was $10.48, and the adorable purse was only $11.88.

There was a nice selection of gorgeous scarves that we highlight in the last picture. Most of them were $12.99.

Was anyone else amazed at the cool clothes some of the designers made out of car parts on Project Runway?

Good news for Steve & Barry fans.

Thursday, August 14, 2008

Thanks to the Indianapolis Star today for giving us a heads up about the Grey Market sale taking place this Saturday. We can patronize local merchants, nothing is over $60, and it gives us a reason to go to Talbott Street (which we always assumed we weren't cool enough to go to). Win, win, win!

Tuesday, August 12, 2008

Even though we are discount shoppers, we still get excited when the Fall fashion magazines start hitting the stands. The New York Post has a great rundown on some of the September issues.

Band-Aids as fashion accessories? Well, cheaper than a purse and more temporary than a tattoo we guess.
