Thanks to Comcast On Demand, we've recently become addicted to AMC's Mad Men. We're not sure how it happened; originally, we rolled our eyes when we heard that AMC was making an original series. We are cruising through the 1st season to get ready for the second season that starts on July 27th. (The first season is also now available on DVD). It is sumptuous to look at and it might bring back suits and ruby red lipstick for ladies and cuff links for men. However, it also makes us want to drink like fish and smoke like chimneys. Aside from brilliantly evoking 1960 Manhattan, the creators have thrown in just a bit of Twin Peaks-like touches in the mix. It's never quite what you expect and sometimes you find yourself laughing out loud all of the sudden. We're never entirely sure where they're going with plot lines and we love that. We also love that Advertising Age published a Mad Men insert (available online) that looks like an issue from 1960.
