Heyerley's

Oh, and while you are at Heartstrings, make the quick jaunt over to Heyerley's in nearby Ossian for some sweet treats (try the brownies). It is legendary. After all, they've been at it since 1931!

You 2 keep dancing around my old hometown of Roanoke. I know you'll get there eventually!

Oh, we've been to the city of Roanoke many times and had tasty meals at Joseph Decuis (www.josephdecuis.com). Anything else fascinating that we should know about Roanoke? We know from living in Fort Wayne that there's good bike riding through there.

I've never eaten there, sadly. Really wanna go some day though. I lived there when the building was still a bank.

I don't know much else about Roanoke, I haven't lived there since I was 13. I did drive through there on Sunday. It's interesting how your perspective on a place changes as you get older. When I was a kid, it was just a boring little town. Now, I can see its charms. Heck, it has a hill or 2! That's unique in Northern Indiana. I wish I could give you more info about it, but there is a book out there. I lived there during the 1980s, when the "painful decline was evident."

I think I have gained weight just reading all of these posts about treats!

Watch for an upcoming post just for you loyal reader Kevin. It does have its charms but kids don't understand the concept of charm. We felt the same way about our respective hometowns. Sorry, Sarah! We are actually generally healthy eaters but just seem to be hitting unhealthy places lately.
