Big City Deli and Kahn's Fine Wines

Why are these two lumped together under one post? Because Big City Deli is attached to Kahn's at their new-ish location just a little bit south of their old location on Keystone Avenue. We needed to buy a gift at Kahn's so we thought that it was the perfect opportunity to try the deli. Big City Deli is very cute carrying out the "big city" theme with pictures of famous skylines adorning the walls. They have at least half a dozen booths and some tables outside. There is a big menu on the wall right when you walk in so you can look it over before sauntering up to the counter and placing your order. We tried their Cuban sandwich (pictured) and their Big City Spinach Salad. We were a little disappointed with the size of the salad (and that it came with pre-packaged dressing) considering the cost. However, the Cuban did not disappoint at all. It was just as it should be; pork loin, ham, pickles, Swiss, provolone and mustard pressed on Cuban bread. It was a delicious and a very generous sized sammie. Just because it looked good, we even tried the potato salad that was in the cooler with the drinks that you pick out as you step up to order. It isn't a natural side to go with a Cuban but it was definitely tasty and we were glad to have it to nosh on as we waited at our booth for our order to come out to us.

As far as our purchase at Kahn's Fine Wines, we couldn't have been more pleased. This is the first time that we ever visited them but it won't be the last. We were struck by the sheer size of the place and the amazing selection. As we wandered, an employee promptly asked if he could help and we told him what we were looking for as a gift and our price range. He quickly led us to what he thought would be our best option and very knowledgeably told us why. We were a little out of our element and greatly appreciated that he didn't flinch at our price range and enthusiastically told us about the bottle that he recommended.

We look forward to giving both sides of this establishment more of our business.
