More conveniences, but less time;
We have more degrees, but less sense;
More knowledge, but less judgment;
More experts, but more problems;
More medicines, but less healthiness;
We've been all the way to the moon and back,
but have trouble crossing the street to meet the new neighbor.
We build more computers to hold more information to
produce more copies than ever but have less communication.
We have become long on quantity,
but short on quality.
These are times of fast foods but slow digestion;
Tall man but short character;
Steep profits but shallow relationships.
It's a time when there is much in the window,
but nothing in the room.

Regular readers know that we are fans of both Eckhart Tolle and the comic strip Mutts so we are thrilled to see that they have come together for a book coming out this fall.

Pathways to Joy by Swami Vivekananda

Pathways to Joy came to Mrs. WYA!'s attention through some yoga training but you don't have to be a practicing yogi to enjoy it. She simply found it to be one of the most inspiring and uplifting books that she's read. She is just now discovering Eckhart Tolle and there are a lot of overlapping themes between the two (even though Swami Vivekananda brought his teachings to the West around the turn of the last century).

Oprah certainly doesn't need us to promote her but Mrs. WYA! did enjoy her webcast about spirituality. The webcast can be downloaded for free on iTunes or on Oprah's website. Mrs. WYA! describes herself as spiritual but not religious so this panel really grabbed her interest and it might yours too. If you are aware of a spiritual center in Indy that isn't affiliated with a particular religion but is open to all spiritual seekers (along the line of Oprah panel member Dr. Beckwith's Agape), please let us know.


The webcasts with Dr. Oz, Suze Orman, and Bob Greene were also very interesting.
