Super Salve and Think Before You Pink

We've recently become hooked on Super Salve's Power Repair Vitamin C Solution. We like that the products at Super Salve are developed by a clinical herbologist (read her story here) and that the products are made from organically farmed herbs, essential oils, butters, and waxes. It was through Super Salve's website that we learned about Think Before You Pink, an interesting organization striving to help consumers not get misled by pink ribbons used in marketing campaigns by companies that actually might be manufacturing products that are linked to breast cancer. Their website is a worthy read.

We love it when a birthday celebration turns into a month-long event. Mrs. WYA!'s b-day isn't until late this month but the presents are already rolling in- yippee! Did you know that Schweppes (the folks who make, among other things, a great ginger ale) makes lip balm? We didn't either but Mrs. WYA! received this too cute glamorous gold tote with 3 Schweppes lip balms inside; tonic water, grape, and ginger ale lip balm. She would no doubt be carrying that in her purse as she shopped the oh-so-chic stores in the Shop America book she also received. The book is filled with photos of real mid-century stores and gorgeous renderings of what could have been- swoon.

DHC

Get on this catalog's mailing list. We don't order from them very frequently but they always send at least a couple of samples in their catalogs. We've liked several items that we've purchased such as the lavender and rosemary scented After Bath Hair Treatment Emulsion and the White Sunscreen but the one we always make sure we have is the Deep Cleansing Oil. It's a really luxurious cleanser/makeup remover. We think olive oil is just one of those amazing things like vinegar that is pretty much good for everything.

Moorman's new location

We blogged several weeks back about the lovely Moorman's Perfumes store in Nora Plaza and that they told us that they were moving soon. It turns out the new location isn't that far- just down 86th St. to the strip mall in front of/beside the Kohl's shopping center across from the Fashion Mall (where Maggie Moo's is if that helps). We hope that all of their loyal patrons follow them along with new customers.

An old favorite and a new find from Gilchrist & Soames

We blogged about Gilchrist & Soames a few weeks ago which got us to thinking that we haven't placed an order with this Indianapolis based company in awhile. Mrs. WYA! ordered her old favorite the rich, luxurious, subtly scented Vitamin E Body Lotion. She noticed that there was a new line called BeeKind so she ordered a bottle of that body lotion too. It is extremely rare for her to buy a scented product sight-unseen (or rather, smell- unsmelled?) but she trusts Gilchrist & Soames. There's nothing like finding out you have your choice from several free samples once you start the check-out process to make you happy about patronizing a place as well. In this photo, the small bottle is the free sample that we chose, Essentiel Elements Wake Up Rosemary Body Lotion which has a stimulating (but not too strong) mint smell. Anyway, the order came and the smell of BeeKind is wonderful. It has extracts of clover, honey, chamomile, and calendula which can be hard to imagine without smelling it. The description that came to Mrs. WYA!'s mind upon first sniff was that it smells like a summer morning. On top of that, there are no parabens, phthalates, or artificial colors. Furthermore, a portion of the proceeds support honey bee and sustainable pollination research.

If you pay with Mastercard, check out this site for a Gilchrist & Soames promo code that worked like a charm for us.

Moorman's Perfumes in Nora Plaza

Last week, Jen Fu left a comment telling us that we need to check out Moorman's Perfumes so, this past weekend, we did just that. What a cute shop this is in Nora Plaza. It's narrow and there is a lot to see. We weren't in the market for perfume so we mostly browsed the wall with lovely soaps. We picked up a couple of bars of Panier Des Sens soap which have a pure vegetable base and shea butter. We'll keep the patchouli one and probably put the lavender one in someone's Easter basket. They were $6.50 each. We also couldn't resist the Crabtree & Evelyn penguin shaped soap to give as a gift. This shop is not only a good source for Crabtree & Evelyn but also Ahava products. We even unexpectedly got some free sample packets of Crabtree & Evelyn's LaSource Hand Therapy when we checked out.

We couldn't find a website for them but we did get a tidbit of information when we checked out. We left our email address to get on their mailing list and were told that they will be moving in the next 30 days and they'll put an email out to let their customers know where they will be. We'll let you know when we get that email.

We love Kiehl's and we love simple perfumes available in small bottles both because the price is lower and because we like to change up our scents a lot. So, we were happy to read this blurb about Kiehl's $25 Essential Oils Roller Ball scents.

Fat free Valentine's Day gift

Alright fellas, here's a unique, bargain friendly gift for your Valentine. Mark has these adorable candy lip glosses. You don't even have to worry about picking out the color because it is a set of 3 different colors. These would be cute toppers for another gift or just appreciated on their own.

If your eye shadow was a human, would it be old enough to enroll in kindergarten? Would your mascara be a toddler? It's hard to keep track of the age of make-up but not good to keep using it beyond when you should. Here is a great article from Good Housekeeping outlining how long you should keep various cosmetic products and why. They also recommend these fabulous stickers from Timestrips that help monitor the elapsed time that your cosmetic has been opened.
